Stafford FM are appreciative to Afford Rent-A-Car,  St. Albans Rd,  Stafford for their support and providing the station with a new Nissan NV 200 white diesel van which will be used as our Outside Broadcast Unit. You will have noticed their distinctive radio commercials which can be heard on 107.3 Stafford FM, with some special Christmas infomercials coming soon. The guys at Afford are tuned into Stafford FM at their St. Alban’s Road depot and appreciate the service Stafford FM provide to help promote and reflect the interests of the local community.

Stafford FM’s Station Manager Ray Crowther said, “The new vehicle will really help us moving forward, getting us out and about more and closer to the community we serve. The van will help provide a high visibility presence around Stafford and at our events”.

Ray Crowther is seen with Stu Haycock receiving the keys to the new van earlier this week from the team at Afford Rent-A-Car.

Look out for the 107.3 Stafford FM Afford Rent-A-Car Outside Broadcast Unit around town and give us a wave!!

Today is the 5th anniversary of the tragic events that became known as the Northumbria shootings when police officer David Rathband (originally from Stafford) was shot in the face and permanently blinded by fugitive Raoul Moat. PC David Rathband struggled to cope with the devastating consequences of losing his sight in such a traumatic way and after 18 months, he took his own life. David became a national hero after the incident and used his profile to establish the Blue Lamp Foundation to support 999 staff injured on duty.

I chatted to David’s twin brother, Darren Rathband on the eve of the anniversary about his memories of growing up here and how he is coping after such a devastating loss.
